I knew Americans drove their car EVERYWHERE but damn
Are we really this bad? Here is a chart from a recent post by the NYTs Paul Krugman showing a breakdown of different countries and the percentage of their trips that are traveled by car, and other modes.
Not surprisingly, Americans use their cars more than anyone else. Surprisingly, we use cars about 15% more than Canada, a country with a population at least as spread out as ours, if not more. The other countries put us to even greater shame.
Ride bikes people! It's fun, great exercise, and is far more pleasant than driving.

how's it feel to be a 1%er?
anyway - nyc is a little different though. it's not sprawled out like a lot of other cities and we have a pretty decent transit system.
Yeah I have a feeling NYC is pulling a lot of the weight in that 2%
